S2000:
- The new Honda S2000 is a true driver's car, delivering
exhilarating performance, positive control and quick, responsive handling.
- The front-engine, rear-drive roadster couples an
all-new, high-revving 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder engine with a new, close-ratio six-speed
manual transmission to accelerate the S2000 from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds.
- The engine is a 16-valve, DOHC VTEC
and is rated at 240 horsepower, a lofty 120 horsepower per litermore than any other
normally aspirated engine. The lightweight and compact powerplant is located entirely
behind the front axle, helping the S2000 achieve a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
- Honda's VTEC system was refined for use in the S2000.
Its three-lobe, dual/triple cam follower arrangement has been optimized for high internal
speeds. This new layout allows the S2000 engine to produce strong low-end torque and
continue producing power up to its redline. In addition, the VTEC engine is also a highly
efficient design, which helps the S2000 qualify as a Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV).
- The S2000's six-speed, close ratio transmission
features a direct shift linkage and internal pressurized lubrication system, a first for
Honda in a mass-produced vehicle. This transmission provides a direct, quick and smooth
shift feeling.
