2008 Mazda RX8 speed pic review

Map > Mazda RX8
The 2008 Mazda RX-8, shipping to dealers in June/July 2008, is expected
to stimulate a lot of interest with its novel 4-door design. Overall
however, the RX8 promises the same superior performance and handling
that has been experienced from its predecessors. Owners in this class
who expect unwavering performance and sports car perfection will not
be disappointed with the new 2008 Mazda RX 8 speed and handling.
We can expect that Mazda will ship the RX-8 with a choice of two rotary power
plants without much difference in the 2008 RX-8 price. The high performance
rotary engine that will power one of the two models will generate 247
horsepower at 8,500 rpm with a redline of 9,000. The lower performance
power plant develops 207 horsepower at 7,200 rpm and redlines at 7,200
rpm. Since there is no reciprocating vibration in a Wankel engine, the
engine runs very smoothly, even turbine-like. This affords the 2008
Mazda RX-8 driver an exceptionally smooth ride and thrilling acceleration.
Once you have driven a Wankel, you don't want to go back to the reciprocating
piston engine.
Starting right from the weight distribution to the four wheels, the 2008 Mazda RX 8 is very well balanced, with an
exceptionally low center of gravity. Mazda has used the most recent advances in carbon fiber and manufacturing
techniques to keep the weight of the RX 8 down while maintaining strength. Mazda will ship with two transmission
configurations, state of the art suspension and brakes:
A close-ratio 6-speed manual for the higher end power plant
A 4-speed automatic with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel to achieve a "semi-manual" mode for the
lower end model
Double-wishbone front suspension and long-link multilink rear suspension
Disc brakes with ABS are used all round with a heavier "Sport" version optional
The 2008 Mazda RX-8 is a little unusual in that it sports smaller rear doors to make entry into the back seats much
easier. There may be some debate over the practicality of a sports car with seating for four. Overall, the cockpit is
spacious and comfortable for average sized adults. Instrumentation is ergonomically placed and easily read. The 2008
Mazda RX 8 will be a classic in its thoughtful design and unique features:
- High quality Bose sound system tuned to the RX 8
- Access to the relatively spacious
rear seat is through a pair of rear-hinged suicide doors
- A new sporty
low-pitched exhaust rumble, instead of the rotary engine's more typical
high-pitched drone
- A 10-cubic-foot trunk area will accommodate a pair
of size 67 Samsonite suitcases.
Many features of the new 2008 Mazda RX8 make it a very practical sports
car while it also sports advanced performance features that will turn
heads and heighten the pulse rate of the driver. This combination of
practicality and sportiness make the 2008 Mazda RX-8 price more reasonable
for those torn between a true sports car and one of those family-sports
vehicles. One look at the 2008 RX 8 pic may be all it takes however,
since this is no run of the mill sports car.
